Basils Farm Events

Basils Farm provides the ideal location for special events and educational workshops. Enjoy outdoor activities such as self-guided walks, food foraging in the native conservation land, or join one of our regular gardening or art workshops.

For food and wine lovers, we also hold dinners with winemaker Ray Nadeson, cooking classes with guest chefs and wine and food matching experiences.

Basils Farm is also the perfect choice for those looking for a venue with a difference. With stunning views across Swan Bay to Queenscliff, the grassed area and Basils Cafe are available to book for corporate wine tastings and private group events.

Weddings  We can currently hold intimate weddings of up to 60 guests on the property. For further details please visit our Functions page. We plan to hold larger weddings from 2019. Private Functions, Corporate Events and Catering Basils Farm can accommodate private functions in the Cafe (out of regular business hours) and in our large outdoor marquee (all hours). Basils Farm “Sunday Sessions” + More Dates!

From September through to the end of April 2018 relax to the tunes of our talented Sunday Sessions musicians. We have a great lineup of acoustic artists playing a variety of genres ranging from blues through to modern-day favourites. This month we also have added a Saturday night for our final Twilight Dinner!

Entry is free however as weekends tend to be busy, bookings are essential.

Time: 12:30 to 3:30 PM every Sunday, September to April.

Basil’s Farm Seasonal Edible Gardening Workshops

Everything you need to know to grow healthy and fresh organic food throughout the seasons. Utilising sustainable practices, drawing on the skill of our in-house gardening guru Igor (Farm Manager) to help turn your garden into one of abundance, health, and beauty!

Autumn Gardening Workshop – Saturday 28th April.

Autumn is always a fun season to get in the garden, the weather is usually mild and it’s rewarding to know that by giving you patch a little extra love now you will reap the rewards in the months ahead!
Some of the topics we plan to cover in this workshop include:
·      Irrigation.
·      Soil care and nutrition.
·      Espaliering. 
·      Plant selection and autumn plantings.
·      Organic fertilisers.
·      Autumn propagation (semi-hardwood cuttings and division) berry fruits, herb harvesting and drying and autumn tasks in the garden.

Time: 10 am – 12 noon.

Price: $40 pp.

Melbourne Food and Wine Festival – “Many Hands” Alfresco Lunch – Sunday 18th March

Basils Farm is proud to once again be a part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival in 2018. This year the event has a theme of “Community” and our menu will pay homage to the many hands that work in our local area to supply us with beautiful fresh produce.

How many hands brought the food to your plate?

Whether it’s our own produce grown from seedlings from Encompass (all abilities employer) planted by a local farm management student, our food and wine have a connection to the community. It’s a loop of local love, with sustainability at its heart, where you know who grows the produce or makes the product.
Join us for an alfresco lunch matched to our wild fermented wines.
Enjoy seasonal grazing platters followed by a shared banquet of local delights, including Raven’s Creek Pork, Bannockburn Free-range Chicken, and Basils sides from the garden, grown from seedlings from the Encompass Paddock. Dishes are matched to Basils Farm, wild fermented wines. It’s a lunch with the community at its heart.
Enjoy a guided tour through the GARDEN, and take in the spectacular views across Swan Bay.
Live MUSIC on the day from Imogen Brough between 12.30pm-3.30pm.
