Basils Farm Events
Basils Farm provides the ideal location for special events and educational workshops. Enjoy outdoor activities such as self-guided walks, food foraging in the native conservation land, or join one of our regular permaculture gardening or art workshops.
For food and wine lovers, we also hold dinners with winemaker Ray Nadeson, cooking classes with guest chefs and wine and food matching experiences.
Basils Farm is also the perfect choice for those looking for a venue with a difference. With stunning views across Swan Bay to Queenscliff, the grassed area and Basils Cafe are available to book for corporate wine tastings and private group events.
Weddings We can currently hold intimate weddings of up to 70 guests on the property. For further details please visit our Functions page. We plan to hold larger weddings from late 2018. Private Functions, Corporate Events and Catering Basils Farm can accommodate private functions in the Cafe (out of regular business hours) and in our large outdoor marquee (all hours). Father’s Day at Basils Farm – Sunday 3rd September
Don’t forget Dad’s special day! Book lunch at Basils Cafe for Father’s Day and we will give Dad a free beer or glass of wine (if you pre book and spend $50 or more).

Basils Farm “Sunday Sessions” are Back!
From Sunday 10th September through to the end of April 2018 relax to the tunes of our talented Sunday sessions musicians. We have a great lineup of acoustic artists playing a variety of genres ranging from blues through to modern day favourites. Kicking us off in September, we welcome Cal Young and Kieren T and say hello again to Basils Farm regular Imogen Brough.
Entry is free however, bookings are recommended.
Time: 12:30 to 3:30 PM every Sunday, September to April.

Children’s Gardening Workshop – Friday 6th October. School Holiday Fun!
In this gardening workshop, kids can learn how to start a garden, plant some veggies and also get to feed the farm animals. Includes a light lunch, take home notes and seeds. Our last workshop booked out – secure your spot now!
Time: 11am-12pm workshop, 12pm – 1pm Lunch.
Cost: $35 per child. Limited to 15 participants, aged 5-10 years.
Please note we require one adult per 2 children to be onsite at Basils Farm for the duration of the workshop. Adults may wish to book into lunch at the Cafe and enjoy our ‘Local’s Lunch’ special for $30 per person including a glass of wine.

Utilising permaculture design principles and sustainable practices, drawing on the skills of our in-house gardening guru’s Ben (Permaculture Gardener) and Igor (Farm Manager) to help turn your garden into one of abundance, health and beauty!

Basils Farm Spring Garden Workshop – Saturday 14th October, 2017.
Spring is the best time to be out in the garden! Join resident permaculture gardener Ben Shaw for a fun morning at Basils Farm. Some of the topics we plan to cover in this workshop & our FREE Friday catch up’s include:
- Plants for spring.
- Garden activities in springtime.
- Soil restoration & garden fertility.
- Organic pest practices.
- Weeds, their uses and managing them organically.
- Kitchen harvests and how to use them.
- Spring planting and propagation (soft tip cuttings and seeds).

‘Pop Up’ Gardening Workshop – new dates TBA.
Join Basils Farm Gardener Ben or Farm Manager Igor for a fun filled hour in the Potager Garden in our ‘Pop Up’ Gardening Workshop. Chat about what’s in season, get gardening tips and advice and pick some fresh produce. We then sit down in the cafe for a delicious lunch and a glass of wine and further opportunity for gardening Q&A.
Time: 11 am – 12 pm, workshop in the garden and 12 pm – 1 pm, lunch/discussion.
Cost: $50 includes 1-hour workshop, lunch and a glass of wine.
Toast to the Coast – 4th & 5th November
We warmly invite you to join us for the 16th Annual Geelong Winegrowers – Toast to the Coast Festival on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th November. Basils Farm will be joining in the festivities on both days and will be open from 10am-5pm. Further details in the coming weeks!
