Why did you choose Basils Farm for your wedding?
We had been looking for something rustic, relaxed but beautiful and my cousin suggested I check out Basils Farm and it is just beautiful. I love how you can see the water, I love the gardens, I love the feel of the place, it is naturally just really beautiful.
We also loved the pavilion for the reception as it is a beautiful canvas to create whatever you want the reception to feel and look like and the ability to have the dance floor set up outside in the garden with fairy lights overhead, it just created such a beautiful atmosphere, can’t forget the fire pit going in the background.
I mean, I could really go on and on about all the amazing details that make up Basils Farm.
How did you find the planning process?
The planning with Talla and Basils was so easy going and simple.
At our first meeting, we were shown around the property and explained what possibilities there are for places we can have the ceremony or the reception and how it can be set up etc.
They were very clear on pricing (which was super helpful – no guessing games or hidden costs). And all the staff were just amazing to deal with. We even loved meeting the chef and chatting through the menu for the wedding. Which also included a dinner for several couples that were getting married at Basils to taste test the food.
My husband and I walked away so happy with the food and wine and stuffed full of goodness and ideas for our own wedding menu. And on that note, the number of people that raved about how amazing the food is was really a testament to Basils care and expertise in offering fresh and delicious food.
What was your favourite moment on your Big Day?
It was the most relaxed day, I didn’t feel stressed at all and felt so taken care of by Basils Farm.
If anything went wrong, I knew nothing about it and the day was all handled with such professionalism. It was everything I had hoped for. I think my favourite moment was standing with my husband during the ceremony in front of all our favourite people becoming husband and wife.
I also loved dancing and just seeing everyone have a great time. So special to have Timothy Marriage Photography capturing all these moments for us. He was a dream to work with.
Can you tell us about your styling inspiration?
I love white, wood and greenery, so that was pretty much my vision. Kept things simple but elegant. My dad helped me make an arbour and my cousin did the flowers. We kept our bouquets simple, each with just a single white protea.
The table settings were simple also. Just white with little jars of greenery on the tables. We also had little pots of local honey for each guest that my mother in law had organised.
What you some words of wisdom for future Basils brides?
Create the day that you and your partner want, not what other people think it should be. Be clear about what you want the day to be like and what your vision is and then just enjoy. The most important thing is that you and your partner are coming together to become husband and wife, everything else is just the ”cherry on the top”.
