Basils Farm are committed to providing you with the highest levels of customer service, including protecting your privacy. The Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 sets out a number of principles concerning the protection of your personal information.

 

This statement sets out important information about privacy protections, which we extend to your personal information relating to personal information that you provide to us.

  • Can I just visit the Gardens?
    Basils Farm grounds are only open to those dining in the Restaurant. Unfortunately, we do not permit visitors to just visit the gardens, you must be dining to have access to the property. Thanks for your understanding.
  • Are you dog friendly?
    Yes. We permit friendly doggies that can be kept on a leash outdoors. We have outdoor dining areas (must have a booking in the garden only) under umbrellas that are perfect for those dining with dogs. We ask that you bring your own bags and pick up after your dog. Please notify us when booking so we can make sure your table is suitable for your four-legged friends.

  • Are you open on Public holidays?
    We are currently now closed on Public Holidays.
  • Are you open on Christmas Day?
    Sorry, we are not open on Christmas Day.
  • Are you open on New Year's Eve evening?
    No, sorry we are not open on New Years’ Eve evening.
  • Can I make a group booking?
    Yes. Basils Farm can take bookings of 10 per table in the Pavilion or outside only (seasonal/weather dependent). Note this is for non-exclusive use of the venue. FOR GROUPS OF 10-20 PEOPLE We require you to dine on our set menu. Please email our Functions Manager Katherine for further information at: katherine@basilsfarm.com.au GROUPS OVER 20 PEOPLE We do not take bookings over 20 people unless the entire dining space is booked out exclusively for a private function.   • Can I book an evening function?

  • Do you cater for vegans?
    Yes. We have a number of options for vegans. If you have specific dietary requirements please mention this when booking to ensure we can cater to your requirements. Please view our menu here.
  • Do you have Gluten Free options?

  • Can I bring a cake?
    A $40 surcharge will apply when you BYO cake. Due to Victorian food safety laws, Basils Farm requests that cakes are professionally prepared by a licensed food retailer or licensed food business. Please inform staff that you are bringing a cake by emailing info@basilsfarm.com.au *Alternatively, we can make one for you and you can place your order online. The following options are available and come beautifully decorated: Flourless Orange (GF) Chocolate Mud Cake Vanilla Strawberry Gateaux Apple and Cinnamon Strudel Cake *14 days notice is required for ordering one of the above cakes.   • Do you have beverages other than wine?
    Yes, we have a number of non-alcoholic beverages, beers, and cocktails on the menu.

  • Do I need to book to dine in the Restaurant?
    Yes, bookings are highly recommended. Off-peak times you may be to get a table on a walk-in basis, but we cannot guarantee a table will be available. To avoid disappointment we recommend you BOOK ONLINE or email: info@basilsfarm.com.au for further information.
  • What is the largest group booking I can make?
    Via our online bookings system, Basils Farm can take bookings up to 10 people in the Pavilion (or outside only - seasonal/weather dependent). If your numbers are greater than 10 please contact katherine@basilsfarm.com.au Please note everyone over 12 months of age is counted. Please let us know in advance if a high chair is required.
  • Does my reserved table have a time limit?
    Yes, all tables are limited to a maximum seating time of 1.5 hours, starting at your reservation time. This is to allow for later seating times.
  • Online Booking – the date/time I want is not showing?
    Our online system is the only way to make a reservation. All available dates/times are shown. If your preferred time is not showing – it is not available, and we are booked out for that date/time. ​
  • What are your Booking Conditions?
    Please arrive at your scheduled reservation time. We reserve the right to re allocate your table if you are more than 15 minutes late. All tables are limited to a maximum seating time of 1.5 hours to accommodate later seating times. Each guest is required to order a meal. 24 hours notice is required to cancel a reservation or reduce numbers of a reservation. $35 will be charged to the credit card used to book the reservation for each person that does not provide the required notice. PLEASE NOTE we are unable to split bills. Thank you for your understanding. ​
  • Can I select where I sit when dining?
    Basils Farm has three dining selections. Cottage/Verandah Restaurant Pavilion and Outside Garden* Please select your preference when booking online. *Please note over the cooler months outdoor seating is not available as we regenerate the grass.
  • What area should I choose?
    When booking online you can select your seating preference however we cannot always accommodate all requests. Seating configurations are set up on the morning of the reservation, taking into account all bookings. Cottage/Verandah — You will be seated in the old Cottage. The Cottage has air conditioning and heating. There is an outside verandah which can hold two tables, this has outside heating. Please note, you can request the verandah but we do not guarantee we can fulfil your request as it is a small space with limited seating. We try to accommodate all requests on a first-booking, first-serve basis. You can make a preference on where you would like to sit although we cannot guarantee you will be seated at your preferred area. Restaurant Pavilion — Large enclosed, heated deck area. Outside Garden — Limited seating in winter. Bookings recommended. Please note, if you select outdoor seating there may not be the opportunity to change to indoor seating due to inclement weather.
  • Can I change my mind and book inside or outside?
    Unfortunately, due to the number of bookings we receive (especially on weekends) most areas are booked out in advance and therefore we cannot change your booking area. All available areas will show on our online booking system.
  • Can I reserve a table and just have drinks?
    Due to capacity restrictions, our current terms and conditions indicate that those seated at a booked table (Cottage/Pavilion/Gardens) must be dining with us. Reserved tables in these areas are not available for drinks only.
  • Are you child friendly?
    Yes! We have a children’s menu and also have wide open (safe) spaces for children to play. Children can enjoy playing in the sandpit sandpit with toys and resident Baby Doll Sheep. Being a working farm, we kindly ask children are supervised at all times.
  • Do you have high chairs?
    Yes. Please request a high chair when booking or in the comments section for online bookings.
  • Do you have wheelchair-accessible toilets?
    Yes, please ask staff for directions.
  • Do you have wheelchair accessible dining areas?
    Yes, we have extensive outdoor dining which is easily accessible via a path and the Cottage and Pavilion dining areas are accessible via the Restaurant Kitchen. Please advise the staff on arrival and we can direct you to the entrance.
  • Do you have accessible parking?
    Yes, we have an accessible parking spot.
  • How is your personal information collected and used?
    When you contact us requesting information regarding our services, you may be asked for some personal information, such as your name and contact details. If you make a request by email we may retain this information for further communication. We only collect information about you, which we need to process your enquiry, request or application, to advise you of new services/events and to satisfy legal requirements. We will also use this information for purposes such as correspondence, special events or to participate in client surveys.
  • Data quality
    We regularly monitor data and document employee procedures to help ensure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. In addition, we demand high standards of quality from others who provide us with information about prospective clients and other services.
  • Data security
    Whenever we handle your personal information, access is limited to those who are authorised to use it to do their jobs and to deliver our services to you. Personal information is protected using a range of security processes. We will keep information for as long as it is necessary to continue to provide the services you have requested or to meet our legal and regulatory obligations with respect to maintenance of property records and we will destroy or permanently de-identify personal information if it is no longer required.
  • Access and Correction
    You can contact our Privacy Officer at any time if you would like details of any personal information we may hold about you or if you would like us to correct it. Depending on the nature of your request, we may ask you to complete a personal data access form. In some cases, we may charge you a service fee for providing this information, but we will inform you of this at the time.   • Website
    You browse our websites anonymously. Anonymous statistical information (such as the number of hits the site receives) may be collected, but this does not involve the use of cookies or collection of personal information. Disclosure of personal information: Basils Farm are committed to protecting the personal information of our clients. This section explains how we share your personal information with others.
  • Business partners
    We may send you information by direct marketing methods (ie mail, fax, phone, email) about programs and services offered by our business partners. When we do this we maintain control over your personal information, which is not disclosed to our business partners, unless you have expressly authorised us to do so or you respond to their offer.
  • Service Providers
    Service Providers In certain circumstances we contract other companies to provide services for us. Examples of this include mail houses and couriers. We provide them with only such information about you that they require to perform their services, and we impose strict requirements of security and confidentiality on them in how they handle your personal information. They are not permitted to use information about you for any purpose, except to perform the services we have contracted them to provide.
  • Other Information Disclosure
    In all other cases we will not disclose your personal information unless you have been previously informed or have authorised use to do so, or if we are required to do so by law or where there are reasonable grounds for suspecting fraud or criminal activity or where there is a reasonable belief that it is necessary to lessen a serious or imminent threat to the life or health of any person. If you want to “opt out” of receiving direct marketing communications, all you need to do is let us know. All mail, fax or email offers you receive from us will let you know how to “opt out” from receiving further such communications.   • Table Reservations
    Bookings are essential to ensure a table is available for you. ​Please BOOK ONLINE or email info@basilsfarm.com.au for further information. If your preferred time slot is unavailable it is fully booked. By making a booking you agree to the terms and conditions below: The maximum table size in the Pavillion is 10 people. The maximum table size in the Cottage is 5 people. Tables booked in the Pavilion will be undercover. Please arrive at your scheduled reservation time. We reserve the right to re allocate your table if you are more than 15 minutes late. All tables are limited to a maximum seating time of 1.5 hours to accommodate later seating times. Each guest is required to order a meal. 24 hours notice required to cancel a reservation or reduce numbers of a reservation. $35 will be charged to the credit card used to book the reservation for each person that does not provide the required notice. PLEASE NOTE we are unable to split bills. Thank you for your understanding.
  • Group Bookings — Up to 20 Guests
    During regular business hours, group bookings in the Pavillion and Garden are available for up to 20 guests (2 tables of 10). ​ Please note this is non-exclusive use. Groups under 10 people can order À la carte from our restaurant menu Groups of 10-20 people are required to be on our set menu Bookings are essential for groups. Please BOOK ONLINE or email info@basilsfarm.com.au for further information. ​ If your preferred time slot is unavailable it is fully booked. For private function bookings over 20 people please email: info@basilsfarm.com.au ​ By making a booking you agree to the terms and conditions below: Tables booked in the Pavilion will be undercover. Please arrive at your scheduled reservation time. We reserve the right to cancel your reservation for no shows after 15 minutes. All tables are limited to a maximum seating time of 1.5 hours to accommodate later seating times. All guests must be dining with us.
  • Group Bookings — Over 20 Guests
