Why did you choose Basils Farm for your wedding?
Basils Farm is an incredible venue, it has a unique backdrop and so many perfect spots to capture the day. It felt like such a natural setting, and not over the top which suited us perfectly. Basils also has stunning views of Swan Bay and we were so lucky to get a perfectly sunny day there. We both love the beach so we were so happy to find such a special place that incorporated the water as well as a unique venue. We loved the fact that they are environmentally conscious, producing lots of their own food and giving back to the community we felt like it is a great business to support.
How did you find the planning process?
Working with Basils Farm Weddings Manager, Talla was a dream, Talla helped make the whole experience from the initial first meeting to the ongoing planning and then, of course, the big day, so smooth and effortless. Talla coordinated and organised everything – we didn’t need to bring in caterers or hire items, there was no added stress. Talla provided so many different options and was happy to incorporate new ideas, we felt like nothing was too hard to arrange. Chef Sean supported us and created our very own menu, to suit Steve’s severe food allergies. This meant our whole wedding was Dairy, Nut and Egg free, it was such a relief to not have to worry about this, as we do in our everyday lives.
What was your favourite moment on your big day?
The whole day went so perfectly for us, so it’s hard to pinpoint one moment. The Ceremony itself was such a joy and we both couldn’t stop smiling. We loved spending some quiet time together between entree and dinner, where we went down to the paddocks to meet and feed the resident Llamas, Basil and Houdini, and of course, we loved getting to spend time with our family and friends singing and dancing away into the evening.
Tell us about your styling inspiration?
Basils incredible venue allows for the scenery and landscapes to be a perfect backdrop, which meant we didn’t have to over-style, and allowed us to embrace the beautiful natural setting. We used classic flowers and greenery, large open roses to bring a bit of warmth and elegance to the setting but nothing too dramatic as to not outshine the surroundings. The mood in the evening was such a great vibe! We had the fire pit going in the garden, the band playing sing-along tunes in the Farmhouse, guests dancing away under the festoon lights and our single neon love heart tied it all in. Basils easily created our own style and worked around us, rather than having a generic list of features.
What are some words of wisdom for future Basils couples?
Find a moment to enjoy the day together and relax. The rest will take care of itself as Basils fantastic team has it all covered. We were so comfortable working with Talla from Basils she made the whole experience so much more enjoyable as there was no need to stress about the small things.
