Why did you choose Basils Farm for your wedding?

The feel when you first walk in is something else. Beautiful, lush gardens then you see the stunning views of the fields and bay. Such a hidden gem on the Bellarine and is totally different from the other wineries. It is simply stunning, effortless and relaxed which is exactly what we wanted!

How did you find the planning process?

The planning process was amazing. Talla (and Basils staff) were super accommodating and nothing was ever too much trouble. They listened to what we wanted and helped our vision come to life. Any minor adjustments we wanted, they allowed. I feel compared to other venues, Basils were more than happy to listen and create what we wanted rather than giving us a ‘set’ criteria that everyone was to follow. So many of our guests commented and said how our day just represented Damien and I so much. This only happened because Basils allowed us to create a day that suited us.

What was your favourite moment on your Big Day?

This is a hard one. All of it! I have lots that stick out like arriving and seeing all our guests, our vows, our speeches and our super fun dance floor party!

Tell us about your styling inspiration?

I used Pinterest a lot for our ceremony. I knew I wanted 2x flower stands and the styling to be minimal and simple as I feel the venue is just too stunning, less was more. We didn’t need to do a lot décor wise. Just flowers for the ceremony and I chose simple, natural colours with a small pop of colour. As for the café and pavilion Basils provided flower jars around the barrels that suited my flowers and we hired festoon lights and neon sign. Not much was needed at all! Those bay views are amazing.

What you some words of wisdom for future Basils brides?

Enjoy every minute, the lead-up and the day because it all goes so fast. Be super organised the week of and the day of your wedding so you can just relax and watch it all play out how you envisioned. No one wants to see a stressed-out bride!
